The 3704E is a high-density TMR analog input module from Triconex, engineered for the Tricon Safety Instrumented System (SIS). The 3704E provides 64 commoned input channels, configurable via TriStation software for 0–5 VDC or 0–10 VDC operation. With 12‑bit resolution, <0.25% FSR accuracy, and 75 ms update rate, the 3704E delivers reliable analog signal acquisition. The 3704E functions as a high-density analog input interface within the Tricon TMR safety architecture. Each of the 64 input points is processed by three independent channels. Each channel independently converts variable voltage signals (0–5 VDC or 0–10 VDC) to digital values and transmits them to the three Main Processor modules on demand. A mid‑value selection algorithm ensures correct data for every scan. Sensing of each input point is performed to prevent a single failure on one channel from affecting another. The module sustains complete, ongoing diagnostics for each channel; failure of any diagnostic activates the Fault indicator and chassis alarm. The Fault indicator merely reports a channel fault, not a module failure—the module operates properly with as many as two faulty channels. The 3704E supports hot‑spare capability for online replacement. Current input support: the module can interface with 0–20 mA signals using external precision shunt resistors (250 Ω for 5 V range; 500 Ω for 10 V range)
