The F7126 functions as a high-reliability DC/DC converter that transforms an unregulated 24 V DC input (with tolerance of -15% to +20%, allowing operation from 18 to 36 V DC) into a precisely regulated 5 V DC output. The module employs a switching power supply topology with safe isolation between the primary (input) and secondary (output) circuits, ensuring that voltage disturbances or faults on the 24 V DC bus do not propagate to the sensitive 5 V logic circuits powering the CPU, I/O, and communication modules.
The input stage includes a 6.3 A time-lag fuse for overcurrent protection, followed by EMI filtering to meet VDE 0871/0877 Class B interference limits. The conversion stage uses high-frequency switching regulation to achieve ≥77% efficiency. The output stage incorporates overvoltage protection circuitry set to trip at 6.5 V ± 0.5 V, preventing damage to downstream modules in the event of a regulator failure. Current limiting is set at approximately 13 A, allowing brief overloads while protecting the module from sustained overcurrent conditions.
