Description

The ABB NTAC-02 is a high-performance pulse encoder interface module designed for ACS600 frequency converter systems, enabling precise speed and position feedback in industrial drive applications. Housed in a compact IP20-rated plastic enclosure, it is intended for installation inside standard industrial control cabinets, where it provides reliable signal acquisition and processing for motion control and drive regulation tasks.

The module supports DIN rail mounting and is equipped with two Phoenix Contact MVBSTW 2.5/8-ST-5.08 terminal blocks for encoder and power connections, accommodating wire sizes from 0.5 to 2.5 mm² for flexible and secure wiring. It also features seven DIP switches for node address configuration (default value 16), enabling easy setup in multi-module network environments. Communication with the ACS600 drive is achieved via a dedicated HP universal optical transmitter and receiver interface, ensuring stable and interference-resistant signal transmission.

Functions

  • Converts encoder signals into processed speed and position feedback for ACS600 drive systems.
  • Supports high-precision motion control through real-time speed and position measurement.
  • Processes A/B phase signals with 90° electrical phase shift for direction detection.
  • Handles Z-channel reference pulses (1 pulse per revolution) for accurate positioning.
  • Enables multi-node communication through configurable DIP switch addressing.
  • Provides electrical isolation between encoder power/ground and control system.
  • Supports high-speed signal processing up to 100 kHz encoder frequency.
  • Ensures stable communication between encoder systems and ABB ACS600 drives.
