The Proximitor generates a radio frequency (RF) signal that is radiated through the probe tip into the observed conductive surface . Eddy currents are induced in the target surface, and the resulting loss of signal strength is detected by the Proximitor. This loss is proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the target . The Proximitor conditions this signal to produce a linear DC voltage output (scale factor: 200 mV/mil or 7.87 V/mm) . The system measures both static (position) and dynamic (vibration) displacement with a frequency response of 0 to 10 kHz
