Theory of Operation

The 8601-FT-NI Field Terminal serves as the physical interface between field devices and the PAC8000 I/O system. It mounts onto a PAC8000 carrier, which forms the system's physical and electrical backbone by providing DIN rail mounting and interconnecting the Bus Interface Module (BIM) or Controller, power supplies, I/O modules, and field terminals.

The "Non-Incendive" (NI) designation indicates that the 8601-FT-NI is designed to prevent ignition in hazardous atmospheres by limiting the energy available at the field terminals to a level below that required to ignite a specific gas or dust mixture.
