The 10307/1 functions as an impedance‑matching termination module for the vertical bus (V‑Bus) in Honeywell FSC systems. The V‑Bus is a 34‑wire flat cable that serves as the communication backbone between the processor (CP) rack and I/O racks, routing all scan, test, and update actions. The 10307/1 is installed at the end of the V‑Bus line, where it provides a passive resistor network that matches the characteristic impedance of the bus.
When data signals travel along the vertical bus, they can reflect back from unterminated endpoints, causing signal distortion, data corruption, and communication errors. The 10307/1 absorbs these reflected signals by presenting the correct termination impedance, ensuring that the signal is cleanly cut off at the bus endpoint. The module draws 50 mA from the 5 Vdc supply provided by the vertical bus driver (VBD) and connects to the bus via its own dedicated connector.
